The second transmission today of the Grimeton base VLF transmitter SAQ was done with my normal HF transceiver. With the help of the Datong VLF converter and the home made ZS6BKW antenna the missiob was easy accomplished.
Okay the converter was a bit overloaded with the ZS6BKW antenna, but I managed to receive them good.

Just received the full tranmission of the Swedish VLF transmitter SAQ on 17,2 kHz. The setup this time was my home computer with a soundcard. The antenna was a ZS6BKW connected to the soundcard.
A software receiver was used : Speclab from DL4YHF and the audio was transferred with a Virtual Audio cable to FLdigi.
I think that FLdigi decoded about 20% correct, but never mind, it was the challenge that counts.

When watching a documentary today I noticed that the makers used the very known rtty sound when they are talking over wireless communication. I remember that in the James Bond films of the 60’s and probably the 70’s also they use the same sound. I guess it is a 75 or 100 baud rtty sound.

Even in modern shows or films it is used.  Who has a better and more up to date sound that can be used ?

This morning I saw T77NC in PSK31 on my screen. Dial frequency 7.035. I like to try to work him. Gathering all details like, name, location, qth locator and so on from his qso’s with others I suddenly heard a very strong cw signal just 400 Hz away. And very strong, so bye bye T77NC. A bit upset and thinking that bandplans have a reason I went (more…)

Lot’s of snow this morning. And I have a day off, lucky me 🙂

Let the pictures speak for themselves :

Having built two monoband SDR kits, it was time for something new. The Softrock Lite II receiver kits are working fine, but I wanted something that covers more. The two monoband kits are made for 30m and 40m.With my soundcard that samples at 96 kHz I can see/hear the whole 30m band, on 40m however I can only receive the lower part of the band.

My top 5 of my best dx using wspr. On 20m the antenna is a half wave vertical. On 80/40 and 30m I used the Diamond W735 with an extra dipole for 30m. This antenna hangs just 2 meter above the lawn.
